There’s a misconception floating around the US that Oxford University is one school. I’m just going to correct that now and say that it is not – actually, it consists of over 30 colleges (I’ve heard every number from 34 through 38 while I’ve been here). As a University member, you are a part of one college within the overall coalition of colleges (a college town, essentially). While I’m here, my college is Trinity, which is one of the older/more famous colleges. It isn’t as big as its famous counterparts – Christchurch, New College and Magdalen, but coming from a small university, I feel at home here. If you’re ever on Broad Street, you’ll know it by the blue gates.
