Now a Senior

Indeed. I am now officially in my last year of high school. Tonight, I enrolled in my last two courses at my online high school. In a month and a half, I’ll enroll in my final two courses at the local community college.
I pointed this little detail out to my parents tonight.

“This is the last time I’ll have to maneuver through my school’s difficult enrollment system again, Dad!”
“Oh, wow. That’s right.”

I look at this upcoming year with both eagerness and hesitation. It’s my last year in high school. I’m thrilled. I’m incredibly somewhat apprehensive. I also know that this year is going to be absolutely crazy with more paperwork than I’ve ever done in my life.
Can I please be done with that already?

I’ve loved high school, for the most part. Yes, there are things I would have done differently, but I can’t change them now. I can only observe them in retrospect and learn from them.
I’m excited for this last year in high school. Although I know they won’t, I keep hoping the moments will slow and I can live each day more meaningfully.
But I believe that meaning and intention can be practiced regardless of time. What am I thinking, using time as an excuse?

My amazingly talented friend Cara will be taking my senior pictures. I’m absolutely thrilled to pieces.
Overall, I’ve got so much to be thankful for from these past three years. I’ve grown… in so many different ways.
This is a year to give back. To return the kindness of so many friends (both online and in real life). To meet each adventure as it comes, and not worry about the past, nor stress about the future.
After all, it’s not the past, nor is it the future. It’s now.
Hello senior year.
I think I’m ready for you.
