Next year, I’ll be a senior.
Isn’t that insane? I feel like I just started high school three years ago…
Oh wait, I did start high school three years, ago. This girl doesn’t know what she’s talking about.
No, seriously. I only need four more credits in order to graduate. Unfortunately, graduating, for me, is a bit difficult. I have to fulfill the minimum course requirements for both my online high school, which is in another state, and the course requirements for our homeschooling group in my home state.
They both require 21 credits.
Gosh – I wish it were that simple. I think I can squeak by on the Christian service requirement for my homeschooling group. After all, I acolyte at my church at least twice a month, if not more. And I’ve been doing that for eight years.
That’s got to count for something, don’t you think?
There is one little requirement that I’m not so sure about. American History. Yes, yes, I know my American history, I’m not saying that I don’t. The only reason I’m not taking the class in high school is because I took it in eighth grade. And taking two years of one subject isn’t all that fun, is it now? Unless it’s an especially enlightening course like Algebra.
(Which of course, as we all know, is incredibly enlightening. Possibly genius.)
(Read the above as sarcasm, please.)
(I know – this is an older picture. At the same time though, it’s rather enlightening. Just like these blades of grass are looking forward to spring, we’re also looking ahead in this post. Didn’t that sound corny?)
That is my dilemma for the next week. Do I take American History again? I think I’m going to contact the group and see if I can squeeze my way out of that requirement using my eighth grade transcript.
Do wish me luck, won’t you? I might need it.
I must say, it’s positively refreshing to choose new courses, even if you’re still knee deep in your junior year classes. Wouldn’t you agree?
The title of this post is looking ahead. It not only applies to my previous discussion of schoolwork, but also to Farmgirl Writes. Looking into the crystal ball of blog-futures, I see a whole new site in it’s future. However, this new site won’t be hosted on Blogger.com. This is why you haven’t seen me lately. I’ve been fooling with WordPress way too much for my own good.
Scratch that.
I’ve been living and breathing WordPress code for the last two weeks.
I promise – you all will still be able to read me from your Blogger dashboards. There will be more to read as well. I have lots and lots of (good) surprises up my sleeve. 😉

OMG Amanda I think I love you. I just realized that I took American History in 8th too! Now I probably don't have to take it next year! Happy day!
I'm not with this state, since I left MD without an issue and they told me to register as a private school student instead, so now I'm just trying to finish my credits so I can graduate! I still have a year, as you know. 😦 But hopefully I can buckle down and concentrate. I've been procrastinating more than ever lately. It's senioritis as a junior haha.
That will definitely be explained in later posts. 😉 However, it offers me more customization options, and allows me to set up my blog a bit differently. 🙂
Aha, so you just realized that you love me? *wink* I would still check with NY though, to make sure you can get away with it. I'm going to be checking with my group as soon as possible.

Amanda, do you *have* to take American History? I have never taken American History in high school and I don't plan to 🙂
As I said, it's just what my particular umbrella group requires in order for me to graduate. 🙂 It really varies per group and per state.
Personally, I would want to take American History. At least, more than math. Or science.
So will you be going to college after you graduate?

How exciting- facing your senior year! Is there an AP American History class that you can take? That might be a good option. Since you've already taken a class, an AP course might take you deeper into the history. Or, also because you've already taken it, it would be a very easy 'A'…
What about college? Any plans, hopes, ideas?
Hmm… funny, because I never seemed to be required to take American History…
Or maybe I just don't realize that I do…
I would definitely advise checking. 😉 Some states, like mine, don't consider KNHS a private school. >.<
Hmm… I guess I should go check. I'm planning on going to a community college and then transferring to an [nice] university (hopefully), but I don't want to find out that I can't graduate just because I didn't do a boring US History class (or worse, economics… well, I did do Civics…)
Ugh, yes. That could be terrible… 😦 I was planning on taking economics, but it looks like I'll be taking AP US history if they've finished rewriting the course.
