Where Do I Start?

First of all – I’d like to thank (although the word “thank” isn’t an adequate one) everyone so much for the comments, prayers, and well-wishes on my last post. I haven’t heard all that much, but Kaye will be okay, and will be able to go home within a couple of days.
The past few days have been busy, but amazingly good and blessed. This is the first time I’ve gotten online all day, which should be recorded in history books. Well, maybe not, but whatever. Right? It’s all good….

Actually, it’s not quite all good. I hate discussing blog politics (yes, they exist), but I want to say one thing. I’m not talking to anyone in particular. No, seriously, I’m not. I just want to say this – to put it out there, so to speak.
Blogging is a place to find yourself, and to reach out to one another through a supportive community. Yes, you heard me right. Most of us don’t know each other in person. Many people have only spoken directly to each other online a couple of times, but we still know each other well – from reading the other person’s blog. It’s not a competition. It’s not a trial by fire to define yourself immediately. It’s not an open outlet to hurt others.
Everyone is different. And everyone has their own way of finding themselves.
Blogging isn’t about being the biggest, best, most-awarded, most-beautiful blog or blogger. It’s not about the amount of online “friends” you have, or the amount of blogs you follow.
It’s about having a place to express yourself – a place to share your thoughts, feelings, both the ups and the downs. Not everyone is perfect, and everyone has their own struggles.
And you know what? That’s okay.

The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater.  ~The Fellowship of the Ring; J. R. R. Tolkien~

  1. I am so thankful for this community of friendships that I've found through blogging. It's every person's uniqueness that makes it so fulfilling. So thankful that Kaye is going to be okay and home soon!

  2. I didn't comment on the earlier post, even though I read it (via reader), because I was very upset and try not to write anything when I'm not thinking straight. I am most definitely praying for Christine's family, and for Kaye and her family. That tragedy… I cannot find the right words to express the pain they must be feeling.
As for the rest of your post, I agree 100%! What you said is exactly right, and perfect, and I'm not going to go off on just how right you are in a comment, but wanted to let you know you that your blogging perspective is one that we all need reminding of sometimes-and one that I share. Thank you, thank you, THANK you for saying that so well!

  3. Great post! I did one kinda similar a bit ago.

And I'm glad Kaye is doing alright. πŸ™‚

By the way, I love the picture! It reminds me of the plethora of shots I took that other day with our red berries in the snow. πŸ˜‰ I've been taking lots of pics lately. In fact, when we put up inside Christmas decorations, I counted 140 pictures — taken in about a 15-20 minute time span. πŸ˜› Becoming obsessed much? lol

  4. It's heartbreaking, but I am so thankful that Kaye will be okay. Thank you SO much for your prayers – I know that they are appreciated…all across the world.

And thank you… about the rest of the post. I really wasn't sure how it would be interpreted, but you know what? That's okay. I've spoken my mind, and I feel a lot better about it. (Especially since others agree with me!) ;D

    (I'll email you very soon!)

  5. Haha, thanks! I took that last week, when we had a couple inches of snow up here (gasp!). We were at my aunt's, and I ran outside to her holly tree, with my camera. Everyone else thought I was crazy (I forgot a coat), but hey, I got some cool pictures. πŸ˜‰ Oh, yes… we're definitely obsessed. πŸ˜›

    (I need to call you!)

  6. Thanks, Anna dear!

(P.S. – I visited your blog last night… I'm continually amazed at how awesome the design turned out! And your most recent post was awesome!)
